Breaking News — Kittens!!!

She Who Is Awesome just called to let me know that she woke up at about nine this morning to the sound and sight of Ninja, the pregnant cat belonging to one of her suite-mates, giving birth next to her in bed. She got to see #2 through #4 greet the new day.
Two of the kittens are orange and have markings much like those of Texas, who is Rachael’s cat. He was fixed, so it theoretically can’t be his offspring, but, as we learned in ‘Jurassic Park’ — Nature Finds a Way.
According to her, the one who is tucked under mamma-cat’s chin in the pic, is already showing signs of being extremely feisty. Rach is urging me to adopt. I’m thinkin’ about it.
Here’s a pic of Tex when he was little. Rach and I both instantly fell in love with him, tiny T-Rex kitty that he was:
I’m hoping I’ll be able to drive up to Austin in time to see if the kitten is as irresistible as I fear, before it gets adopted out to somebody else. It may be a moot point, as Rach is threatening to keep it for herself.

So, let the cat pics begin! If anyone wants to post a pic of theirs, but doesn’t know how to load it into comments here, the HTML is:
< img src="http://URL OF THE PICTURE YOU WANT TO DISPLAY" / > if you have it on a server somewhere. Move the ‘< ' and '>‘ inward, so that there is no space open between the beginning and end of that string. Whenever I tried to give the exact code, WordPress interpreted it as a URL and messed up.
If the pic is just on your hard drive, you can always upload it to http://www.imageshack.us/ and they’ll give you a URL for it, to paste here.

They are soooo cute! The orange ones are temporarily named Little Texas (because he’s like a miniature Tex… always pickin’ fights and yelling) and Secret Kitty (because he hides under his mama’s leg.) The black kitties are Underdog (the only kitty that fights back when Little Tex attacks) and Slow Kitty (he’s the runt and he’s a little retarded… but he’s ever so cute, and the mama cat likes him best.) The calico we call Sweden because he’s entirely neutral, you can pick him up and he won’t care… if Little Tex tries to fight… he won’t care.

Okay, I have to contribute. Mallory graciously allows me to provide for her needs and to pay for her vet bills. In return, she keeps me company, particularly by sleeping on my lap. With the looks of a Russian Blue, and the voice of a Siamese, I cut her a lot of slack since she’s old, blind, arthritic and highly medicated.

Nancy — Grr. Your follow-up post also got caught in moderation, and I think that WordPress is actually filtering out the URL for some reason.

Interestingly, WordPress, the software that runs this blog, put my comment #15 into the spam filter, even though I was signed in administratively. I think it’s freaking at the ImageShack link.
If anybody else wants to post pics, just include the URL as text, and I’ll make it work.
