The Return of LAUGHIN’ BOY

July 8th, 2008 by Bradley Denton

Laughin' Boy - Wheatland Press - Darin Bradley cover

As I return to Eat Our Brains after an absence of a few weeks, I’m also announcing the return of my novel LAUGHIN’ BOY as a trade paperback.  It’s available for preorder from Wheatland Press right this minute.  The stunning cover art is by Darin Bradley.

LAUGHIN’ BOY was originally published as a limited-edition hardcover by Subterranean Press in 2005.  It was a gorgeous book, and it sold out . . . but its cover price and small print run meant that a lot of potential readers didn’t see it.  So I’m beyond delighted that Wheatland Press is now publishing this less-expensive but equally beautiful edition.

“[Laughin’ Boy] is one of the funniest novels of the past decade.”

YAY! I thought about stealing one of the NYPL copies, but this is a much better idea.

  2. Michael Shannon Says:

Congratulations! I didn’t realize the hardcover was a limited edition – I may have to pick up a copy of the new edition, too, just to have a reading/lending copy.

  3. Morgan J. Locke Says:

Go Brad! This is great news. Congrats.

(Not to mention, yay! I don’t have to look at decaying superheroes everytime I visit the site! (I know, I know; if I’d done my post yesterday like I should have, I wouldn’t have had to (bu bu but I’m almost done with my rewrites! I have a good excuse!)).)

  4. Madeleine Robins Says:

    Oh. excellent. More DENTON!

  5. Madeleine Robins Says:

And I thought it was the pictures of Jesse Helms and W that were turning you off, Morgan…

  6. Casey Hamilton Says:

This is totally cool, Brad. I do, however, have one question. Having just read the Publisher’s Weekly review over at Amazon, I really do have to ask — when the hell did you meet Mark Twain so’s he could mentor you? I’m so jealous; I only ever got to see his grave in Elmira.

  7. Bill Householder Says:

Yay! Laughin’ Boy is back! I have the limited, but, as Michael suggested, a paperback copy would be good to have, also. Hope it sells out, too!

  8. Rory Harper Says:

    Bloody Fabulous!

Or should that be fabulous and bloody?

  9. Caroline Spector Says:

Now I’ll have a loaning copy. Dammit, must order another…

  10. Bradley Denton Says:

Thanks, gang. I can also report that the page proofs look GREAT.

Casey, we protégés call him “Sam.” And the reports of his death were greatly exaggerated.

  11. James Hollaman Says:

this is great and what a great cover. I will not be buying one for a loaner copy, but telling people its out there so they will buy their own copy to read. its that good….
