This morning I took Sarcasm Girl and her bud, Amanda (who is visiting from deepest Indiana), to the bookstore to get Eclipse, the third book in Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight vampire series, which was released today. They’re fun books, and SG and A are serious fans (they tried to get a bunch of like-minded Twilight fans together for lunch yesterday, but it didn’t quite happen). Anyway, for the second time in less than a month, I found myself swept up in the marketing trail of a Big Book. The first time, of course, was when Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows arrived at the bookstore. We did the whole thing: dressed up, played the silly party games, waited in lines, got the book at 1:15 in the morning, finished it (both of us) by Sunday evening. And I was thinking, as I watched the girls dive into Eclipse this morning that when I was a Young Person there weren’t publishing events like this. Read More »

As people have probably been noticing, I’ve missed several play dates lately. Missed my post on Friday and Caption Monday. Hopefully, this miracle technology will provide the cure to my severely brain-damaged state and I will post on time in the future. Or not.
