Oh, Beautiful, for Spacious Skies . . .

A friend called me the other day and asked, “Where’s the outrage over the Scooter Libby pardon? Why aren’t people screaming for Bush to be impeached?”

My reply was, “Bush isn’t a lame duck — he’s a dead duck. Why would we waste our time on him at this point?”

What I was really thinking was that Dubya could sodomize a preemie on the White House lawn, slit its throat, drink the blood, and there would still be 29% of Amurikans who’d think he’s the sort of fellow they’d like to have a beer with.

Perhaps I have scandal fatigue.

It should be no surprise.

I think the entire country is suffering from Post Traumatic Shock. How else would you describe the nation that once kicked Hitler’s ass hiding under its beds and letting a bunch of criminals run the ship of state?

It’s difficult to even feel the slightest surprise at Libby’s pardon.
