A List of the Most Peaceful Countries In the World
Steven Gould
Norway is number 1.
New Zealand is number 2. (Huh. Wait until Black Sheep comes out.)
Denmark is number 3. (Guess they got over that regicide thing.)
Ireland is number 4. (Pretty sure we’re not talking Northern Ireland though things have also improved there.)
Japan is number 5. (Though there are those who say that they sit under the US military umbrella.)
…
Iraq is dead last at number 121.
The Sudan is next at number 120.
Israel is number 119.
Russian is number 118.
Nigeria is number 117.
Where do you suppose the most powerful nation on earth sits? I’ll give you a hint. There’s a reason Iraq is dead last.

My prof last semester did a study of countries and their tendency to go to war.
Turns out that Democracy, when you control for other factors, is positively correlated to war.

Very informative. Makes sense and is clear to part. Still I´d like to have a list of peaceful countries regarding the safetiness inside the country. From this side many of the countries listened before the US are not safer as the US. Not the policitcal involvement, military spending. I mean violent crimes inside the country. SA has a lot higher level of violent crime rate if just use the US definition of violent crimes compared. I know there is a list of murders by country at wikipedia. Is there also a list of safetiness inside the country(violence),list of counry by robbery rate, rape rate, assault rate, attempt murder rate? If yes please let me know. But don´t link Nation Master as this list is less correct as nothing else. It still lists Colombia as Nr1 by murder per capita which is years ago. When you view the most recent you will see that El Salvador took the first place and Colombia and South Africa are “just” longer 6 and 7.
