Steven Gould
“An absolutely mesmerizing novel that will leave you stunned and conflicted. Blackburn is an emotionally challenging read, so consider yourself warned. A masterpiece.” — Augusten Burroughs , author of Running with Scissors and Possible Side Effects
“By turns hilarious, heartrending, violent, and tender, it is like no book you’ve read before. A profoundly unsettling book.” – The Washington Post Book World
Caroline already mentioned this back in May but the book was not out yet. April 17th was the release date for the new edition of Bradley Denton’s Blackburn. I can’t recommend this book enough. (Really–I’d need more time in the day.) But even if you’ve already read the book you may not have known of the additional stories told about Jimmy Blackburn that aren’t in the book. Last month, on the front page of his site, Brad featured two novelettes and a novella that appeared in other venues.
Novelettes:
“Blackburn’s Lady”
“Blackburn Bakes Cookies”
Novella
“Blackburn and the Blade,” Part 1
“Blackburn and the Blade,” Part 2
“Blackburn and the Blade,” Part 3
I don’t know his position on International Pixelstained Technopeasant day, but this is an opportunity not to be missed.

I have had it in the little bookshelf next to my bed for years and years. And I can’t begin to tell you how wrong that is.

I cant tell you how many times this book has been borrowed out and not returned. I even bought Lords of the Blade just for the Blackburn story. I keep my copys (Signed Hard Cover, ARC and Reading Copy) on a Shelf that my Wife and 5 year old son can’t reach
Am I obsessed??

I work in library and was very pissed to discover we didn’t have Good Mr. Denton’s excellent book–I, too, could go on all day–so I’m ordering a copy to fill this void! Blackburn Rocks!

Oh, and I also wanted to thank Dear Brad for putting the Blackburn stuff on his site for those of us too poor to buy the expensive books. Yay, Brad!

This is a very nice book by my nice friend Bradley. But it’s kinda scary. But that’s nice, too.
You better buy it and read it, and then you can tell him how great it is.
Then maybe he won’t make you go in the little room where the wasps come in.

Thank you, Unca Stevie. And thank you Morgan, Maureen, Michael, Bill, and Rory. This was far too kind.
I’m very proud of BLACKBURN. 296 pages of text . . . and every one’s different!

Brad, I have to tell you, now that I’m safely out of Texas, I’ve only been able to read BLACKBURN once. Just once, got the picture, thankyouverymuchuhhuh.
And now you tell me there are MORE of these? Sorry, no. You write too well. I’d never be able take it.
And that picture on the Picador site? OMFG, dude, you’re a serial killer! And I out-scored you on the serial killer/programmer quiz! You are SO a serial killer! Congratulations!!

296 pages of good text. Really good interesting chewy text. That’s rarer than one likes to think.
