Kurt Vonnegut.  November 11, 1922 – April 11, 2007

It always amazed me how much he looked like Mark Twain.

This one really hurts. I have been reading Vonnegut since way before I had a clue what he was writing about, and it’s a punch in the gut to lose him. Guess I expected him to live forever. Now I know what I’ll be (re-)reading this weekend.

Interestingly, according to the Associated Press obit that appeared in 14Apr edition of the Stars & Stripes, Norman Mailer referred to him as “our own [generation's] Mark Twain.” Prominently noted as a subtitle to the headline was his standing as an ex-POW… you all probably know the rest.

  3. Morgan J. Locke Says:

I sooo agree with this. He has a lot in common with Twain.
